Walk along the reed marsh and Lake Biwa's shore, experiencing the nature of waterside wildlife

About this spot

A natural observation area that spreads across the tip of Karamatsuhantou Peninsula, where reed marshes unique to Lake Biwa and waterside vegetation are protected. Wooden pathways and walking trails are well-maintained, allowing you to walk slowly through the lake-shore reed marsh while getting a close-up look at water birds, insects, and the lake landscape. In summer, the reeds are lush and green, and it's a pleasant walking path with the breeze crossing the lake surface. Within walking distance from Mizunomori, and positioned right next to the grass plaza where tonight's fireworks will be held, it's ideal for getting a sense of the venue's atmosphere and location.

Fireworks details

Name: Symphonic Starmine

Date & time: 8/1 (Sat) Time TBA

Venue:

Tips

Tips

A few minutes' walk from Mizunomori. Some sections of the walking trail are unpaved, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Afternoon sun in summer is intense, so don't forget a hat and sunscreen. Stay hydrated as you walk. If bird watching is your goal, binoculars will add to the enjoyment.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes required. The cool afternoon breeze blows in from the lake, and the green of the reed marsh is beautiful.
