JR Kusatsu Station (JR草津駅) is the central station of Kusatsu City, with supermarkets, convenience stores, and restaurants clustered around it. Around the Karasuma Peninsula venue, food stalls and vendors get crowded from evening onward on the day of the fireworks display, so it's reassuring to gather your dinner, snacks, and drinks around the station at this time. Take advantage of shops offering takeout so you can settle in and eat at your leisure on the lawn at the venue. It's about a 15-minute drive from Kusatsu Station to Karasuma Peninsula; if taking the bus, it's convenient to check the Omi Bus (近江バス) route in advance.

Tips

On the evening of the fireworks display, convenience store bento boxes and drinks can sell out early. It's recommended to pick them up relatively early, around 4pm. Don't forget to also buy trash bags and disposable wet wipes. Reconfirming your return transportation and its schedule at this time will also make heading home smoother.
