This is the expansive lawn square at the tip of Karasuma Peninsula, the venue for tonight's Symphonic Starmine. Located at the tip of the peninsula jutting into Lake Biwa's southern basin, it boasts a prime location with sweeping views across the water. Spectators gradually begin to gather from evening onward, so use this time to claim a spot with a leisure sheet. As the sun sets, the surface of Lake Biwa turns indigo, and the silhouette of the mountains on the far shore emerges in an exceptional twilight view. Spreading out the dinner you brought and waiting for the show to start in the lake breeze is also an important part of this course.

Tips

The parking lot may fill up early on the day of the fireworks display. If taking the bus, check the schedule of special and regular services to Karasuma Peninsula in advance. Lines can form at the public restrooms in the square, so use them early. The temperature can drop suddenly after sunset, so keep a jacket or something to put on within easy reach.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 15 minutes. Take your time watching the sky shift from sunset colors to the indigo of the lake surface.
