The TKU Ezutsu Lake Fireworks Festival is a grand summer fireworks display held annually at the lower Ezutsu Lake and surrounding areas of Suizenji Ezutsu Lake Park Hiroki area in Kumamoto City's Higashi Ward. In 2026, from 7:15 PM to 8:15 PM on August 29 (Saturday), approximately 10,000 fireworks will light up the night sky and lake surface. Fireworks launching from the lake or lakeside create a fantastical landscape combined with upside-down reflections mirrored on the calm water surface, a sight unseen elsewhere. The sight of star mines and large shells blooming one after another across the wide lake surface has a different appeal than urban fireworks displays, with a grand scale that becomes one with nature. The moment when the finale's rapid bursts simultaneously light up the water surface and night sky will be deeply etched in the memories of your entire family.

Check the festival's official announcement for confirmation regarding cancellation due to bad weather. After the event ends, roads and public transportation around the venue become extremely crowded. For city trams and buses, it's recommended to wait some time after the fireworks end before boarding, or to walk a bit away from the venue to avoid congestion. The lakeside on the return route has limited lighting, so bringing a flashlight is advisable.
