The Sagamigawa riverbed upstream of Takada Bridge is the main viewing area for the Sagamihara Cooling Fireworks Festival. The river is wide with an open view, and many viewing spots can be secured including the opposite shore. In the evening, the riverbed has a pleasant breeze crossing the Sagamigawa, and even in early September, it feels cool in the evening. Secure your spot with a leisure sheet during this time and slowly spread out the dinner you picked up. While viewing the scenery of the river surface tinted by the sunset, this moment raising anticipation for the fireworks is a precious part of this course. Food stalls line the area too, so you can add light snacks.

相模原納涼花火大会は、相模川高田橋上流を会場に開催される相模原市の夏を締めくくる花火大会です。約8,000発のスターマインや大玉が広い川幅を利用して次々と打ち上げられ、対岸の丘まで含めた広大な空間が次々と彩られます。相模川の水面に映る花火の反射が美しく、川沿いならではの開放的な眺めが魅力。9月初旬の涼しくなりはじめた夜風の中で見る花火は、夏の終わりの感慨をひとしお深めてくれます。75分間のプログラムを川岸でゆっくり楽しみましょう。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は相模原市の公式発表で確認してください。終了後は周辺道路と最寄り駅が大変混雑します。フィナーレ後はすぐに移動せず、河川敷でしばらく余韻を楽しんでから帰るのが混雑を避けるコツ。帰りの夜道は足元が暗い箇所があるので小さなライトがあると安心です。

About 20 minutes on foot from Sagami Railway Kamimizo Station (相模線・上溝駅) or Hara-Asoma Station (原当麻駅), or cycling is convenient. On the day of the fireworks festival, spot reservation starts early, so it's safe to be on the riverbed by around 5 PM. Portable toilets will be set up, but expect lines, so use them early.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours required. You can slowly enjoy the changes in sky color from sunset to after dark.
