A small museum in Minamiechizen Town that conveys the history of Kawano, which once flourished as a harbor where kitamaebune (cargo ships) waited for favorable winds. Models of kitamaebune, navigation tools, and exhibits depicting the lives of wealthy merchants of Kawano are on display. It becomes clear that this area, just next to Karakurajo Kaiyoku where tonight's fireworks will occur, was a crucial hub of marine transportation from the Edo through Meiji periods. The compact facility is not boring even for children to tour, and learning about local history deepens your affection for the Echizen coast. Knowing a little about the land before watching the fireworks will change how you see the night scenery.

2026年7月25日(土)20時打ち上げ開始、南越前町・甲楽城海水浴場を舞台にした河野夏まつり花火大会です。約5,600発の花火が漆黒の日本海の夜空に次々と開き、波の音に重なる打ち上げ音が越前海岸の断崖に響きます。打ち上げ場所と浜辺の観覧エリアが近いため、光と音の迫力が直に体に伝わるのが越前海岸の花火大会の醍醐味。海面に映る花火の光が波とともに揺れる光景は、海辺の会場ならではの美しさです。フィナーレの連発が夜空を埋め尽くす瞬間は、この1日のすべてのクライマックスです。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は南越前町の公式発表で必ず確認を。終了後は周辺道路が混雑するため、花火終了後しばらく浜辺で余韻を楽しんでから帰路につくと渋滞を避けやすくなります。帰りの浜辺や駐車場までの道は足元が暗くなるため、スマートフォンのライトや小型ライトがあると安全です。
Tips
About 5 minutes by car from Michi no Eki Kawano, and close to Karakurajo Kaiyoku. Admission is relatively affordable, and 1 hour of viewing time is sufficient. Confirm opening hours in advance through official Minamiechizen Town information. The museum is air-conditioned and provides a pleasant respite from the summer heat.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. You can enjoy viewing leisurely in the relatively cool indoor space during the afternoon.
