Cool Off at the Hundred Best Waters Spring and Experience Oono's "Water Culture"
About this spot
Oshōzu, which springs from Izumi-machi in Oono City, is one of the "Hundred Best Waters" selected by Japan's Ministry of the Environment. Echizen Oono is also known as the "Town of Water," with spring water sources scattered throughout the city. Oshōzu has a clean appearance with a stone-built spring water basin, and locals continue to use it as a living water source for daily life. Just seeing the clear, cool water on a hot summer day refreshes the body, making it perfect for a rest stop during a castle town stroll. The area around the spring basin is quiet with plenty of shade, making it a spot children enjoy.

おおの城まつりのクライマックスを飾る大花火大会で、大野市中保の会場から約3,000発が打ち上がります。越前大野は四方を山に囲まれた盆地のため、花火の音が山々にこだまして体の芯まで響く迫力は格別です。夜空に大きく開く尺玉や、連続して広がるスターマインが盆地の空を埋め尽くし、夏の越前大野の夜を一夜限りの光で染め上げます。城まつりの祭り囃子や地域の熱気とともに楽しむ花火は、都市部の大会とはひと味違う、山里の夏祭りならではの温かさがあります。
Tips
開催時間は大会公式の発表を必ず事前に確認してください。荒天時の開催可否も公式発表に従いましょう。終了後は会場周辺の道路が混雑するため、終演後はすぐに移動せずしばらく余韻を楽しんでから帰路につくと混雑を避けやすいです。JR越美北線の帰りの便は本数が少ないため、時刻表の確認を忘れずに。足元が暗いのでスマホのライトを活用してください。

Located about 10 minutes on foot from the base of Echizen Oono Castle, in the center of the castle town. While drinkable spring water, please check local signage before using. Since there are multiple similar springs in the surrounding area, consider combining the castle town stroll with a water route exploration.

Approximately 45 minutes required. Perfect timing to cool off during the hot midday hours.
