About this spot
The Shinoyama venue spreading across the broad floodplain of the Chikugo River is one of the main viewing areas for the Chikugo River Fireworks Festival. Serious spot-claiming begins in the evening, so arrive on the floodplain by around 5 PM to secure your viewing location. The evening breeze flowing along the river pleasantly alleviates the summer heat. The atmosphere of the floodplain lined with food stalls is pure summer festival excitement. As the sun sets, the river's surface transitions from orange to indigo, offering ample visual interest even before the fireworks begin. Spread out your drinks and light snacks and leisurely wait for the 7:40 PM start time.

2026年8月5日(水)19時40分開始、筑後川の河川敷から打ち上がる約12,000発の花火が1時間にわたって夜空を飾ります。篠山会場・京町会場ほか計6会場が同時進行する大規模な大会で、各会場から異なるアングルで楽しめるのが筑後川花火大会の大きな特徴です。スターマイン、尺玉、仕掛け花火と多彩なプログラムが続き、筑後川の広い水面に映る逆さ花火の美しさも見逃せません。九州最大級規模のフィナーレは連続打ち上げが夜空を埋め尽くし、大きな川音と花火の轟音が体に響く迫力は、ほかの花火大会では味わえないスケールです。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は大会公式の発表を当日確認してください。終了直後は帰宅客が一斉に動き出し、西鉄久留米駅・JR久留米駅周辺が大変混み合います。フィナーレ後しばらく河川敷で余韻を楽しんでから、時間差での帰宅がおすすめ。帰り道の河川敷は照明が少ない箇所があるため、スマートフォンのライトを活用して安全に移動しましょう。

Both Nishi-Tetsukurume Station and JR Kurume Station are approximately 15–20 minutes on foot away. On the day of the festival, surrounding roads are under traffic restrictions, so public transportation is strongly recommended. Temporary restrooms will be set up, but be sure to use them before the show begins. The floodplain surface is uneven, so select a flat spot to lay your sheet.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 45 minutes required. The view of the sunset over the river is spectacular, heightening anticipation for the fireworks display.
