This ramen shop in Midoricho (緑町) is a member of the Kura no Machi Kitakata Roumenkai (蔵の町喜多方老麺会), the Storehouse Town Kitakata Old Noodle Association, and its signature dish is the handmade curly noodles made by an owner who was originally a noodle maker. The Kura Ramen, paired with a broth built around dried sardines, and the Negi Chashu Men topped with tender, lean chashu pork, are both popular choices. Fill up properly at lunch to prepare for your afternoon stroll through the storehouse streets.

Tips

Long-established shops are concentrated in the center of Kitakata's city area. On the day of the fireworks festival, lines can form at lunchtime, so aim for right after opening or the latter half of 1pm for a smoother visit.
