About this spot

A vast prefectural park in Watanuki Town (綿貫町), Takasaki, housing both the Gunma Prefectural Museum of Modern Art and the Gunma Prefectural Museum of History—a cultural zone. The grounds feature a lawn plaza and walking paths surrounded by trees, offering shade from the summer sun. With open spaces where children can run freely, this is an ideal departure point for leisurely time before evening—perfect weather for an outing. Stepping into the museum to cool off is also worthwhile, and it's an excellent choice for conserving energy before the fireworks festival on a summer afternoon. Park entry is free, and parking is available.

高崎まつりのフィナーレを飾る大花火大会は、約15,000発という北関東有数の打上数を誇る夏の一大イベントです。烏川の広い河川敷から見上げる花火は、遮るものがなく空全体に広がる開放感が最大の魅力。音と光が体に響く大玉の連発から繊細なスターマインまで、50分間にわたって夜空を絶え間なく彩ります。川面に映る花火の反射も美しく、大河川沿いの花火大会ならではの迫力と情緒が同時に楽しめます。フィナーレの怒涛の連発が夜空と川面を一斉に照らす瞬間は、この1日のクライマックスにふさわしい感動の光景です。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否および順延については高崎市の公式発表で当日確認を。終了後は高崎駅方面へ向かう人で歩道が大変混み合うため、フィナーレ後しばらく河川敷で余韻を楽しんでから移動する時間差帰宅がおすすめです。帰路の足元は暗いので小さなライトがあると安心。電車を利用する場合はJR高崎線・上越新幹線・両毛線などの臨時増発の有無を事前に確認しておきましょう。

Tips

About 20 minutes by local bus from Takasaki Station (高崎駅) East Exit; get off at Watanuki Bus Stop (綿貫バス停). By car, use the parking lot within the park. The interior has air conditioning, making it useful for escaping the heat. Multiple restrooms are available in the park, far more comfortable than at the fireworks venue.
