The grand fireworks display that caps off the Takasaki Matsuri (高崎まつり) is a major summer event boasting about 15,000 shells, one of the largest counts in northern Kanto (北関東). Fireworks viewed from the wide riverbank of the Karasu River (烏川) have nothing blocking the view, and the sense of openness spreading across the entire sky is the biggest appeal. From large-shell barrages whose sound and light resonate through your body to delicate star mines (スターマイン), the display continuously colors the night sky for 50 minutes. The reflection of the fireworks on the river's surface is also beautiful, letting you enjoy both the power and the atmosphere unique to a fireworks display along a major river at the same time. The moment when the finale's torrent of rapid-fire shells lights up the night sky and the river's surface all at once is a moving sight befitting the climax of the day.

For whether the event will be held in bad weather or postponed, check Takasaki City's official announcement on the day. After the event, the sidewalks toward Takasaki Station become very crowded with people, so it is recommended to stagger your departure by enjoying the lingering atmosphere on the riverbank for a while after the finale before moving. It is underfoot dark on the way back, so a small light is reassuring. If taking the train, check in advance whether there will be extra services on lines such as the JR Takasaki Line (JR高崎線), Joetsu Shinkansen (上越新幹線), and Ryomo Line (両毛線).
