Pay Respects at a Historic Temple Known as "Kodokutomi Gonryu" - Stroll Through Serene Grounds
About this spot
A Pure Land Buddhist temple located at the base of Mount Kanayama, officially named Jigenin Taikoin (慈眼院大光院). Founded in the early Edo period, it has been revered as "Kodokutomi Gonryu" (子育て呑竜), an ancient deity believed to protect children. The expansive grounds feature impressive temple gates and main halls, and since it is adjacent to the entrance of the walking trail to Kanayama Castle Ruins, it is ideal to visit on your way down from the castle. Pay respects in the quiet, tree-surrounded grounds and recharge for the fireworks festival ahead. This is one of Ota City's most representative historic temples.

2026年8月8日(土)19:00開始、群馬県太田市の新田まつり花火大会のフィナーレです。新田陸上競技場を会場に4,000発の花火が夏の夜空へ次々と打ち上げられ、約30分間にわたって太田市の夜空を鮮やかに彩ります。まつりの締めくくりにふさわしい大輪の花火は、間近から見上げると音と光が体全体に響く迫力。昼に歩いた金山城跡や新田義貞ゆかりの地の夜空を彩る花火には、歴史の舞台の上に立っているような特別な感慨があります。家族みんなで夜空を見上げながら過ごす30分は、この夏いちばんの思い出になるはずです。

荒天時の開催可否は太田市・新田まつり実行委員会の公式発表で確認を。終了後は帰宅客が一斉に動くため、東武新田駅や周辺道路が混雑します。終了後は少し時間をおいてから移動すると、混雑を避けやすくなります。帰りの交通手段と時刻は事前に必ず確認しておきましょう。

You can descend directly from the walking trail at Kanayama Castle Ruins and visit the temple. Entry to the grounds is free. A spacious free parking lot is adjacent. From here, it takes approximately 15 minutes by car to Michi no Eki Ota. Since the heat persists during this time, it is recommended to rest in the shade of the temple grounds before moving on.
Best time to visit
Takes approximately 45 minutes. After exploring Kanayama in the early afternoon, visit during the pleasant hours when the shade within the grounds is most comfortable.
