The bustling district centered on Mito Station North Exit is where restaurants serving Mito natto (納豆) dishes and local Ibaraki ingredients gather. On the fireworks festival night, dining venues around Senba Lake will be packed, so dining leisurely here in the early evening is the wise choice. Shopping centers and shopping streets are nearby, so you can restock drinks, light snacks, and trash bags needed for fireworks viewing here. Keep in mind the schedule to head to the venue an hour and a half before the fireworks begin, and allow sufficient time for meals and shopping.

水戸黄門まつりのフィナーレを飾る、千波湖を舞台にした花火大会です。2026年7月25日(土)19時30分から20時30分まで、約5,000発が夜空を彩ります。湖面の水鏡に映る逆さ花火は湖上祭ならではの美しさで、広い湖畔のどこからでも正面に花火を楽しめます。水戸黄門まつりは徳川光圀公をしのぶ夏祭りとして水戸市民に長く親しまれており、花火大会はその最大のクライマックスです。フィナーレのスターマインが湖と空を一緒に照らし出す瞬間は、1日の歩みが重なって感動もひとしおです。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は水戸市の公式発表で確認してください。終了後は湖畔周辺の道路と水戸駅方面のバスが大変混雑します。フィナーレ後は湖畔でしばらく余韻を楽しんでから、時間差で帰宅するのがおすすめです。足元が暗くなるためライトを用意し、子連れは手をつないで移動しましょう。

Approximately 5 minutes on foot from Kodo-kan. On the fireworks festival day, convenience stores will also be crowded, so secure drinks early. From Mito Station South Exit to Senba Lake shore is approximately 15–20 minutes on foot or by bus. During the Mito Komon Festival period, food stalls and events may be set up around the station area.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. You can enjoy a leisurely meal and shopping in the bright early evening hours.
