Before the fireworks begin, this is a leisurely time to spread out a leisure sheet on the lakeshore and await the opening. During the Mito Komon Festival period, Senba Lake's shore transforms from its daytime quiet into the liveliness of a festival, with food stalls lining the area. The sight of the twilight lake surface changing from crimson to deep indigo is beautiful in itself. As daylight fades, the crowd of viewers grows, so it's prudent to have your sheet laid out in a good viewing spot at least an hour before the show begins.

水戸黄門まつりのフィナーレを飾る、千波湖を舞台にした花火大会です。2026年7月25日(土)19時30分から20時30分まで、約5,000発が夜空を彩ります。湖面の水鏡に映る逆さ花火は湖上祭ならではの美しさで、広い湖畔のどこからでも正面に花火を楽しめます。水戸黄門まつりは徳川光圀公をしのぶ夏祭りとして水戸市民に長く親しまれており、花火大会はその最大のクライマックスです。フィナーレのスターマインが湖と空を一緒に照らし出す瞬間は、1日の歩みが重なって感動もひとしおです。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は水戸市の公式発表で確認してください。終了後は湖畔周辺の道路と水戸駅方面のバスが大変混雑します。フィナーレ後は湖畔でしばらく余韻を楽しんでから、時間差で帰宅するのがおすすめです。足元が暗くなるためライトを用意し、子連れは手をつないで移動しましょう。

Approximately 15–20 minutes by bus or on foot from Mito Station South Exit. On the fireworks festival evening, the lakeside roads will be congested, making public transportation recommended. Identify restroom locations early. If grabbing additional light snacks or drinks from food stalls, doing so slightly before the opening draws shorter lines than right before showtime.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 10 minutes. You can enjoy the color changes of the twilight lake surface while awaiting the opening.
