This fireworks display, set on the stage of Lake Senba (千波湖), caps off the finale of the Mito Komon Festival (水戸黄門まつり). From 19:30 to 20:30 on July 25, 2026 (Saturday), about 5,000 shells color the night sky. The fireworks reflected upside-down like a mirror on the lake surface have a beauty unique to a lake festival, and you can enjoy the fireworks facing you from anywhere along the wide lakeshore. The Mito Komon Festival has long been cherished by Mito residents as a summer festival held in memory of Tokugawa Mitsukuni (徳川光圀), and the fireworks display is its biggest climax. The moment the finale's star mines (スターマイン) light up the lake and sky together is all the more moving when layered onto the journey of the whole day.

Tips

Check Mito City's official announcement for whether the event will be held in bad weather. After the event, the roads around the lakeshore and buses toward Mito Station become very crowded. It is recommended to enjoy the lingering atmosphere on the lakeshore for a while after the finale, then head home at a staggered time. It gets dark underfoot, so prepare a light, and hold hands with children while moving.
