Pray for Your Family's Safe Journey at an Ancient Shrine Overlooking the Sea
About this spot
An ancient shrine said to have been founded in the Heian period, dedicated to the guardian deity of the sea. From the elevated shrine grounds, you can take in panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, and the seascape spreading along the approach path is exhilarating. It's a sacred space where families can slowly explore and search for fine carvings on the main hall, receive a shrine stamp, and enjoy peaceful walks together.
Tips
The path to the main hall is lined with long stone steps; if you have a stroller, it's easier to drive up to the parking area near the shrine grounds. Prepare small coins for offerings to be safe.
Best time to visit
Allow 30-45 minutes. Afternoons are relatively uncrowded for leisurely worship.
