The lakeside of Lake Kasumigaura (霞ヶ浦), Japan's second-largest lake, is a natural field accessible on foot from the center of Tsuchiura City. Well-maintained cycling roads and walking paths continue along the lakeside, and the contrast between the endless horizon and expansive sky offers a sense of scale unique to Lake Kasumigaura. November is when the air becomes particularly clear, and the blue of the lake surface and sky appear especially vivid. The Sakura River, where tonight's fireworks will be launched, is part of the water system flowing into Lake Kasumigaura. Experiencing the landscape with the lake during the day will deepen your appreciation of the evening fireworks.

土浦全国花火競技大会は大曲・長岡と並び日本三大花火競技大会のひとつに数えられる、歴史と格式ある大会です。2026年11月7日(土)17時30分から20時まで、桜川畔の学園大橋付近を会場に約20,000発が打ち上げられます。単なる観覧型の花火大会と異なり、全国から選抜された花火師たちが「スターマイン」「10号玉」などの部門ごとに技を競う本格的な競技形式で、一発一発に職人の技術と美意識が凝縮されています。11月の澄み切った夜空は花火の色彩を鮮明に映し出し、夏の花火大会とはひと味違う静謐な迫力があります。フィナーレに向けて積み重なっていく興奮と、最後の大スターマインが夜空を塗りつぶす瞬間は、この大会ならではのクライマックスです。
Tips
有料観覧席と無料観覧エリアがあります。有料席は公式サイトからの事前購入が必要で、人気のため早期完売することがあります。無料エリアは当日先着のため早めの場所確保を。荒天時の開催可否は大会公式の発表を確認してください。終了後は土浦駅方面への道と交通が大変混雑するため、終演後は少し時間を置いてから移動するか、事前に帰りの電車の時刻を複数確認しておきましょう。
Tips
The lakeside areas around Tsuchiura Port and New Tsuchiura Port have parking facilities. On foot, it's approximately 15-20 minutes south from Kameshiro Park. The lakeside can have strong winds, so bringing a light jacket is advisable. As temperatures drop sharply in the evening, consider heading back toward the city center after 4 PM.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes required. In the clear afternoon light, you can leisurely enjoy the expansive views of Lake Kasumigaura.
