On Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, about 20,000 fireworks are launched from the venue near Gakuen Ohashi Bridge (学園大橋) along the Sakura River (桜川). Unlike an ordinary fireworks display meant simply for viewing, this is a full competition format in which fireworks makers selected from across the country compete by category, such as 'star mine' and '10-go shell,' with each single shell condensing the maker's craftsmanship and aesthetic sense. The free area is first-come, first-served on the day, so arrive early to secure a spot. Check the event's official announcements for whether the show will proceed in bad weather. Roads and transportation toward Tsuchiura Station (土浦駅) get very crowded afterward, so either wait a while after the show ends before heading back, or check several possible return train times in advance.
