The Honmyo River, flowing through the center of Isahaya, is the main venue for the fireworks display at the Manto Kawa Matsuri. A promenade runs along the river and is popular with local residents as a daytime walking route. Walking through and checking the launch site and viewing areas during the day means you can move around calmly even amid the crowds at night. The riverside breeze keeps the promenade relatively cool even in summer, and the view from the bridges is lovely, so enjoy a leisurely walk to take in the atmosphere of the venue. If the food stalls have already begun setting up, it also helps to note their locations for a smoother evening.
Tips
About a 10-minute walk from Isahaya Park brings you to the riverside. On the day of the fireworks, traffic restrictions come into effect in some areas from the evening onward, so it is safer to park your car earlier in the day and move around on foot. This is also a good time to check the locations of the public restrooms along the river.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 15 minutes. Getting a sense of the viewing area's layout while it is still light helps a lot at night
