The area around Boat Race Omura is the viewing area closest to the launch site of the Omura Natsugoshi Fireworks Festival. It's an open spot right by the water's edge on Omura Bay, letting you view the fireworks head-on across the bay's surface. Spots start filling up around 7 p.m., so spread out a leisure sheet early to secure your viewing spot. Enjoying the sky's transition from sunset to deep indigo while catching the scent of the sea from Omura Bay is one of the great pleasures of this course. Food stalls are also set up nearby, so you can pick up additional snacks and drinks here too, but they get crowded, so act early.
Tips
About a 15-20 minute walk from Omura Station. Since the surrounding roads get congested on the day of the fireworks festival, use walking or public transportation as much as possible. Restrooms are set up around the venue but tend to have lines, so it's recommended to use them early. Apply insect repellent as soon as you arrive at the waterside.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. Enjoy the time the sky changes from dusk to night right by the water.
