About this spot

Right by Togura-Kamiyamada Onsen, this is a roughly 28,000-square-meter city park spread across the Chikuma River's floodplain. The park has a mallet golf course, a local spot for leisure where you can play while listening to the murmur of the Chikuma River. Along the riverbank between Taisho Bridge and Manyo Bridge, where the fireworks display is held, viewers gradually begin gathering as evening approaches. Once you've spread out a leisure sheet to secure a spot, take your time enjoying dinner picked up from the hot spring town or nearby stalls and shops. As the sun sets behind the mountain ridge and the river's surface turns indigo, it's the prologue to tonight's main event.

Tips

On the day of the fireworks, spots start filling up early. Arriving at the riverbank around 5pm is reassuring. Insects increase along the river from evening onward, so use insect repellent. Food stalls and nearby shops get crowded, so pick up drinks and snacks early. Be sure to check restroom locations before you settle on a spot.
