About this spot

Adjoining Suzaka City Zoo, Garyu Park is a lush urban park spread around a central pond. It is also known as a cherry blossom spot, and in summer it has plenty of shade, keeping it relatively cool even on sunny afternoons. Children can run around freely in the spacious lawn area, making it perfect for free time after enjoying the zoo. With benches and pavilions dotted throughout, it is an ideal place to relax and conserve your energy ahead of the evening's fireworks. It is also conveniently located for traveling by car or bicycle to the venue, Dodogawa Riverside Park.

Tips

Since it shares the same grounds as Suzaka City Zoo, you can access it directly from the zoo. Admission is free. The sun is strong on summer afternoons, so choose a shaded bench. The fireworks venue, Dodogawa Riverside Park, is about a 5-minute drive or 15- to 20-minute walk away. To prepare for staking out a spot in the evening, start heading there around 4:30 pm.

About 1 hour 30 minutes. Relax in the green shade and store up energy in preparation for the fireworks
