About this spot
Ariake Beach spreads immediately below the Zenigata Observation Platform and is a white sand beach with a gentle slope extending 1.8 kilometers in total, selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Beaches. The waves are calm and the water is clean, making it a popular summer swimming beach with families. The beauty of this area lies in being able to enjoy the coin sand drawing from two viewpoints: gazing up at the green hill of Kotohiki Park from the beach, and actually walking the sandy beach where the coin sand drawing seen from the observation platform is carved. Listen to the gentle sound of waves characteristic of the Seto Inland Sea and spend a leisurely afternoon on the sandy beach.

かんおんじ銭形まつり花火大会のクライマックス、財田川河口・琴弾廻廊裏から打ち上がる約3,000発の花火です。2026年7月18日(土)20時ちょうどに最初の一発が夜空を切り裂き、わずか15分間に凝縮された光と音の連続が観覧者を包みます。川面に映る花火の光が揺れる様子は、河口の水辺ならではの美しさ。銭形砂絵で知られる観音寺の夏まつりを締めくくるにふさわしい、瀬戸内の夜空を彩る光の饗宴です。昼に展望台から見下ろした有明浜と、この川口の花火が記憶の中で重なり、1日が一本の物語として完結します。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は観音寺市または大会公式の発表で必ず確認を。終了後は周辺道路と駐車場の出庫が大変混み合うため、車で来場の場合は駐車場の位置を事前に確認し、終了後は少し時間をおいてから移動するのが得策です。JR観音寺駅への帰り道も人が集中するため、スマートフォンのライトで足元を確認しながら安全に移動しましょう。

You can easily access it by descending the walking path from the observation platform of Kotohiki Park. If enjoying sea swimming, prepare swimwear and a change of clothes. The sandy beach receives strong sunlight, so a hat and sunscreen are essential. There are shops along the beach, but many operate only during summer, so it's safe to secure water in advance.

Approximately 1 hour. The cool sea breeze in the afternoon is pleasant.
