About this spot

This historic scenic spot, celebrated even in the Man'yoshu, is one of Kagawa Prefecture's finest examples of white sand and green pines along the coast. Maintained as Kinrin Prefectural Park, the pine grove stretches for about 900 meters, and the sight of aged pines framing the beach and the Seto Inland Sea looks stunning against the summer sky. A beach maintained for swimming also adjoins the grove, and spending time gazing at the sea from the cool shade of the pines is just the right kind of comfort for midsummer sightseeing. Since tonight's fireworks display will be held right here, at this pine grove and beach, getting a feel for the venue's layout and atmosphere during the day will make things easier once night falls. Take a leisurely walk and enjoy this precious coastal forest, designated a national Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument.

Tips

About a 10-minute walk from JR Sanuki-Tsuda Station. There is no admission fee, and since the promenade through the pine woods runs over sandy ground, comfortable sandals or sneakers are recommended. On the day of the fireworks, people begin staking out spots from the evening onward, so if you want to secure a good viewing spot, it is wise to plan on returning in the early afternoon. Even in the shade of the pines, do not forget to take precautions against heatstroke during the times when the sun is strong.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 15 minutes. From the morning through around midday, there are relatively fewer people, so you can walk through the pine woods at a relaxed pace
