The Shimizu Port and Shikajima area, the venue for the Shimin Matsuri Ashizuri Matsuri Summer Fireworks Festival, features the port's waterfront and surrounding public spaces as fireworks viewing areas. The port's waterfront, facing Shikajima directly, offers excellent location with almost nothing obstructing the fireworks display - ideal viewing conditions. The harbor breeze is pleasant at dusk, and waiting for the show as the sky transforms from crimson to indigo is itself an essential part of the fireworks experience. If food stalls are available, enjoy light snacks while awaiting the darkening night sky with anticipation.

Tips

On fireworks festival day, expect road congestion and parking limitations; move early to secure your spot. The port waterfront has firm footing, so bring cushions or seating pads for comfort. Check toilet locations in advance. After the show, surrounding traffic will be congested; savor the afterglow at the port before departing.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes required. The port scenery and evening breeze around sunset are exceptionally pleasant.
