Niyodo River (仁淀川)

Flow of the course

About this spot

The Niyodo River is known for its distinctive emerald green glow called "Niyodo Blue" (仁淀ブルー), attributed to its high transparency, and is cherished by many as one of Japan's foremost clear streams. The riverbed of the Niyodo River flowing through Ino Town is an open space where you can feel the river's flow up close while taking a walk. Simply sitting on the white gravel riverbank and gazing at the water brings a coolness that makes you forget the summer heat. Since tonight's fireworks will be launched from this location, understanding the atmosphere and topography of the riverbed during the day will also help with securing a good spot at night. The landscape created by the mountain ranges and clear stream is a spectacular view worth capturing in photographs.

Tips

Accessible on foot from Ino Town Paper Museum. Pay attention to footing when approaching the river, and do not descend into the riverbed during times of high water. Summer has strong sunlight, so don't forget a hat and sunscreen. Mosquitoes tend to come out near water, so insect repellent spray is helpful.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes required. The afternoon sunlight reflects off the water surface, and this is the time when Niyodo Blue appears most beautifully.
