Located on the southern shore of Lake Nakaumi, Yonago Waterbird Park is an internationally important wetland registered under the Ramsar Convention. Diverse migratory birds such as whooper swans, goldeneyes, and sandpipers and plovers gather here, and you can observe them up close from the observation windows and viewing decks inside the facility. In summer, you can enjoy watching waterbirds that inhabit the water's edge, and both children and adults find themselves mesmerized, binoculars in hand, watching nature's activities. Before the fireworks, this is a hidden gem spot where you can experience Yonago's distinctive rich natural environment in a peaceful setting.

米子がいな祭花火大会は、2026年8月9日(日)20時から米子港岸壁を会場に開催されます。「がいな」とは山陰地方の方言で「大きい・すごい」を意味する言葉で、その名にふさわしい約4,000発が中海の夜空に次々と打ち上がります。海に面した岸壁から眺める花火は視界を遮るものがなく、大輪の花火が水面に映る光景も見事です。晴れた夜には遠く大山のシルエットを背景に花火が開く、米子ならではの風景が広がります。フィナーレの連発では、港の夜空全体が光に包まれる圧巻のクライマックスが待っています。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は米子がいな祭実行委員会の公式発表で必ず確認してください。終了後は米子港周辺の道路と米子駅周辺が大変混雑します。電車をご利用の場合はJR米子駅の帰りの時刻を事前に確認し、終了後は少し時間をずらして移動するのがおすすめです。足元が暗くなるため、スマートフォンのライト機能や小型ライトを活用して安全に帰路につきましょう。

Tips

About 5 minutes by car from Minato Mountain Park, and about 10 minutes by bus or car from JR Yonago Station. Admission is 310 yen for adults, free for children (verify eligibility if residing or studying within the city). Binoculars are available to rent within the facility. Closing times vary by season, so confirm in advance on the official website. The move to the Yonago Station area for the evening happens around this time.
