The Yonago Port quay is the very venue where the Yonago Gaina Festival fireworks are launched. Arrive an hour before the show and lay out a leisure sheet, and you can wait for the fireworks in comfort from a good spot. On the day of the festival, numerous food stalls line the quay area, offering classic summer festival fare like yakisoba, takoyaki, and shaved ice. The time when the surface of Lake Nakaumi reflects the dusk sky has a special atmosphere all its own before the fireworks. Browsing the food stalls while waiting for night to fall is also one of the fireworks display's essential pleasures.

Tips

About a 15 to 20 minute walk from the Kakuban-cho (角盤町) area. If cycling, check the nearby bicycle parking areas in advance. The quay surface is concrete, so a cushioned leisure sheet or a folding cushion will make things more comfortable. Restrooms get crowded, so we strongly recommend using them well ahead of time. Roads around the venue get very congested afterward, so it is best to wait a bit before heading out once the show ends.
