About this spot

This complex facility, located in the center of Satsumasendai City, combines a library with a history resource center. Its history corner uses panels and materials to explain how Sendai developed in connection with the Satsuma domain, and the history of the Sendai River and the people who have lived along it. Learning about the cultural background of the Sendai River, where tonight's fireworks will launch, adds extra depth to your evening viewing. The building is air-conditioned, making it an ideal place to escape the midday heat and conserve your energy before setting off. It's also close to the station, making it a convenient starting point for the course.

Tips

About 10 minutes on foot from Satsumasendai Station (薩摩川内駅). Admission is free. Check the facility's official information in advance for opening hours. On the day of the fireworks, the surrounding roads get crowded from evening onward, so it's best to visit early in the afternoon with plenty of time to spare.

About 1 hour 15 minutes. It's relatively uncrowded in the early afternoon, so you can take your time viewing the exhibits.
