Held from 19:40 to 20:30 on August 16, 2026 (Sunday) at Satsumasendai City's Sendai River riverside area, the Sendai River Fireworks Festival launches approximately 10,000 fireworks and is one of the largest-scale summer fireworks festivals in Kagoshima Prefecture. Wide starmine and 10-sun shells paint large blossoms in the night sky, and the double scene with the reversed fireworks reflected in the river is a spectacular sight unique to the riverside. The launch sound shakes the air along the river, and the impressive power resonating in your body is an emotion only truly understood by experiencing it on site. The accelerating tempo of rapid-fire displays toward the finale is a climax that makes the whole family want to cheer.

Tips

Always check official announcements regarding holding in case of bad weather. After 20:30 closing, the roads around the venue and Satsumasendai Station become very congested. Rather than rushing to leave, it's recommended to enjoy the lingering feelings on the riverbank for a while after the finale, then head to the station when crowds have settled down. Some paths on the return are dark, so carrying a small light is reassuring.
