Kandani Tachinomiya Shrine (神谷太刀宮神社), enshrined in Kumihama-cho, Kyotango City (京丹後市久美浜町), is one of the shrines listed in ancient records with a long history even within the Tango (丹後) region. The lush green precincts are wrapped in quiet, and the atmosphere stays cool and comfortable even on a summer morning. It is a fitting place for the whole family to pray for a safe day before heading out for sea bathing. From the bearing of the shrine buildings rooted in the community, you can sense the history and natural richness of Kumihama (久美浜). Once you have finished praying, head next to Kabutoyama Park (兜山公園), which overlooks Kumihama Bay (久美浜湾).
Tips
About 10 minutes by car from Shotenkyo and Kadonohama Beach (小天橋・葛野浜海水浴場). Some parts of the precincts are unpaved, so easy-to-walk shoes are recommended. Parking space is limited, so allow extra time for your visit.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes. Praying in the morning while the sun is weak is cool and recommended
