About this spot
This beach faces Wakasa Bay near the mouth of the Yura River in Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture, and in 2026 it is open from Wednesday, July 1 to Monday, August 31. Swimming is free, and the calm, gently sloping sandy beach can be enjoyed safely even with small children. Restrooms and cold-water showers are free to use, and the beach huts also offer paid hot-water showers, which are handy for rinsing off sand before heading home. The parking lot is spacious, with room for about 1,500 cars, which is a nice point since it is relatively easy to find a spot even during the busy season. You can spend a leisurely time playing in the water until evening while taking in the beautiful scenery of Wakasa Bay, surrounded by its rias coastline.
