This is a JR Hakodate Main Line station in the Zenibako area, facing Ishikari Bay at the eastern edge of Otaru City. It is conveniently located along the way to Otaru Dream Beach, and around the station there are grocery stores and convenience stores, handy for stocking up on bento boxes, drinks, ice, and more before swimming. Since there are not many restaurants around the beach, it is reassuring to fully stock up here before heading to the sea.
Tips
It is about a 10-minute drive to Otaru Dream Beach. Buying extra drinks will help on the hot sand. It is also more comfortable to have a bento box to eat on the beach where there is little shade, as well as ice packs and a cooler box.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes. Getting this done around noon before swimming makes the afternoon flow smoothly
