About this spot

A beach in Ranshima, located in western Otaru City near the border with Yoichi Town, open from July 10 (Friday) to August 23 (Sunday) in 2026. Because of its location a bit removed from central Otaru, it avoids overcrowding and offers a peaceful atmosphere. The white sandy beach and relatively calm waves make it suitable for water play with small children. While there aren't many large-scale facilities like beach houses, flush toilets and temporary restrooms are available, so you can spend the day comfortably. Swimming is free, so with just the right equipment, you can easily enjoy Hokkaido's sea.

Tips

About a 10-minute walk from JR Ranshima Station (JR蘭島駅). If driving, parking is paid, so check the fee beforehand. There are few shops on the beach, so it's safe to stock up on drinks and snacks in Yoichi or Otaru before heading there.

Best time to visit

From 1 p.m. onward, the sunlight is stable and you can enjoy the beach for a long time until evening
