About this spot

A lively fishing port in Ohara, Isumi City (いすみ市大原), just north of Onjuku (御宿). It is known for Boso (房総) seafood such as spiny lobster and abalone, and eateries using freshly landed fish and shellfish are gathered around the port. Seafood rice bowls and set meals with a sea view are perfect for fueling up before heading out for a swim. The very sight of the port with fishing boats coming and going is a scene worth watching for children.

Tips

About 15 minutes by car from Onjuku Beach (御宿海水浴場). Crowding varies by shop, so entering a little early at lunchtime is recommended. Since it is right before sea bathing, many families take care not to overeat and choose lighter dishes.

About 1 hour. Entering in the noon hour before sea bathing keeps things moving easily
