Next stop: Swim until evening in the shallow, gently sloping inlet, and enjoy a summer day at the sea in the port town of KadaAbout this spot
A natural harbor overlooking Tomogashima (友ヶ島) and the Kitan Strait (紀淡海峡), this port is the symbol of Kada, which has thrived on fishing since ancient times. Around the harbor are scattered eateries serving freshly landed seafood, with set meals featuring locally caught sea bream and whitebait proving popular. Dining while watching fishing boats come and go gives a real sense of travel unique to a port town. Make sure to recharge properly before swimming, in preparation for the afternoon's water play.
Tips
About 5 minutes by car from Takurazaki Lighthouse (田倉崎灯台). Shops can get crowded on summer weekends, so it's recommended to arrive before the lunch rush, sometime between noon and 1pm. Some shops also offer takeout, which is worth using when it's busy.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. Finishing up sometime between noon and 1pm, before swimming, makes for a smooth afternoon schedule.
