A cape jutting into the sea in Honkoshi-cho, Kesennuma City, where water spray shoots up from "Shio-fuki Rock" (the Spray Rock) each time waves crash ashore, and "Zaimoku Rock" (the Timber Rock) features distinctive columnar rock formations. These natural rock formations create a spectacular landscape worth viewing. A well-maintained walking trail allows even families with small children to safely enjoy the coastal scenery while watching their footing. The white lighthouse backdrop makes for perfect photo opportunities. With sea breezes and the powerful presence of the ocean felt up close, this is an ideal warm-up spot before your beach swimming.

宮城県気仙沼市にある大谷海水浴場は、2026年は7月18日(土)から8月23日(日)まで、9時から16時の時間で開設されます(海開きは7月5日)。遊泳は無料で楽しめ、有料のシャワーや脱衣所、トイレ、売店、休憩所が整い、監視員も配置されているため、小さな子ども連れの家族でも安心して過ごせるビーチです。三陸の海らしい澄んだ水と開けた砂浜で、波打ち際の水遊びから砂遊びまで、午後のひとときをゆったりと満喫できます。売店で軽食や飲み物を買い足したり、休憩所で涼んだりしながら、16時の終了時間まで海を楽しみましょう。

Tips

遊泳は無料ですが、シャワーと脱衣所は有料なので小銭を用意しておくと安心です。砂浜は日中熱くなるのでビーチサンダルが必携です。遊泳時間は16時までなので、着替えの時間を見込んで15分ほど前には切り上げるのがおすすめです。監視員が常駐していますが、小さな子どもは水際でも目を離さないようにしましょう。

Tips

The rocks become slippery during high tide or when waves are high, so walking shoes are recommended over sandals. Since there are areas without railings, keep an eye on children at all times. Plan to spend approximately 30 to 40 minutes here.
