About this spot

This red-and-white lighthouse stands on a rise on Ajishima (網地島), offering a view over the Pacific Ocean. After landing by ferry from Ayukawa Port (鮎川港), it's the perfect first stop to get a feel for the island air. The area around the lighthouse is surrounded by trees, and even in summer a pleasant sea breeze blows through. You can also see Ajishirahama Beach (網地白浜海水浴場), which you'll head to next, in the distance, making this a spot where you can experience the island's sea with all five senses.

Tips

You can walk there from Ajishima Port (網地島港), but since there are some slopes, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The sun can be strong, so don't forget a hat and to stay hydrated.

Best time to visit

About 30 minutes. Stopping by right after landing keeps the day's flow smooth.
