Children become captivated by dramatic models of great white sharks and explanations of shark ecology, and the exhibits on post-Great East Japan Earthquake recovery convey the character of a town that lives with the sea. The dining facilities serve fresh seafood bowls and sushi made from fish landed at Kesennuma Port, and souvenir shopping for shark-related products and shark meat processed goods is fun. Located just next to Kesennuma City Fish Market, accessible on foot. Free parking available. Admission to the Shark Museum requires a fee (around 500 yen for adults, discounted rates for children). Dining areas can get crowded during lunch hours, so dining a bit earlier will help you avoid long waits. An insulated bag is useful for carrying fresh fish and refrigerated souvenirs.
