The representative beach of Kesennuma Oshima, Oda-no-Hama opens for swimming on July 17 (Friday) 2026 and allows swimming from July 18 (Saturday) through August 30 (Sunday). Swimming hours are 9 AM to 4 PM (until 5 PM on weekends, holidays, and August 12-14 during the Obon period). The beach boasts pure white sand and a shallow, highly transparent sea, earning high ratings in water quality assessments by the Ministry of the Environment. With showers, toilets, beach houses, and lifeguards on duty, families with small children can enjoy the day with peace of mind. Swimming is free. The beach offers authentic swimming despite being on an island just across the bridge—the climax of this course.

Tips
Approximately 15 minutes by car from Kesennuma Oshima Ohashi Bridge. Swimming hours are basically until 4 PM (5 PM on weekends, holidays, and Obon), so plan to wrap up early to allow time for changing. Beach house breaks and showers are paid services. The summer sand gets hot, so don't forget your beach sandals.
Best time to visit
From mid-afternoon (after 2 PM), the sunlight becomes gentler, allowing you to swim until the 4 PM closing time.
