About this spot
A high platform at an elevation of 105.8 meters standing near the center of Miyato Island, known as the "Grand View" (Sōkan), considered the finest vista among the Four Great Views of Matsushima. From the observation platform, you can enjoy a sweeping panorama of Matsushima Bay with over 260 large and small islands, and the spectacular view in the clear morning air is exceptional. A hiking trail is maintained to the mountaintop, so even families with small children can reach it in about 30 minutes. In summer, there are many shaded areas, making it an ideal warm-up activity before swimming.

東松島市・宮戸島にある月浜海水浴場は、2026年は7月18日(土)から8月21日(金)まで開設される、静かで穏やかな遠浅の海水浴場です。松島湾の奥にあるため波が穏やかで、小さな子ども連れでも安心して水遊びができます。遊泳時間は9時から15時までで、砂浜にはトイレと有料シャワーが用意されています。透明度の高い海と白い砂浜が広がり、松島の島々を望む景色も楽しめる、奥松島らしい静かなビーチです。午前中に奥松島の見どころを巡ったあとの締めくくりにふさわしい、1日の締めくくりとなるひとときです。
Tips
遊泳は無料ですが、シャワーは有料なので小銭を用意しておくと安心です。遊泳時間は15時までなので、着替えの時間を見込んで14時45分頃には切り上げるのがおすすめ。トイレはありますが売店は限られるので、飲み物や軽食は事前に用意しておきましょう。
Tips
About 20-30 minutes' walk from the parking area at the base to the mountaintop. It's recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes. The observation platform has benches, so you can take your time climbing with rest stops.
Best time to visit
Takes about 1 hour. The morning when the air is clear is the best time for viewing.
