About this spot

A swimming beach on the Sea of Japan (日本海) coast of Tsuruoka City (鶴岡市), open in 2026 from Saturday 18 July to Sunday 16 August with swimming hours from 8:30 to 17:00. Tsuruoka City Kamo Aquarium (鶴岡市立加茂水族館) stands right next door, so being able to spend time in its cool halls before or after your swim is part of the appeal. Toilets and a first-aid station are in place and lifeguards are on duty, so families with small children can relax. Swimming and the car park are both free, making this an easy beach for enjoying the Sea of Japan. From splashing at the water's edge to playing in the sand, take your time and soak up summer until evening.

Tips

Both parking and swimming are free. Summer sand gets hot, so do not forget beach sandals. Swimming ends at 17:00, so allow time to change and aim to wrap up around 16:45. You can also use the toilets and shop at Kamo Aquarium (加茂水族館) right next door.

From just after 14:00, the sun eases a little and there is plenty of swimming time through to evening
