About this spot

A swimming beach in Sanze, Tsuruoka City (鶴岡市三瀬), open in 2026 from Saturday 18 July to Sunday 16 August, from 9:00 to 16:00. Swimming is free (parking contribution 1,000 yen). Toilets, showers and a first-aid station are in place and lifeguards are on duty, so families can relax. Alongside the sand there is a rocky shore, and a natural diving platform to play from is this beach's particular charm. From watching creatures in the tide pools to leaping in with abandon, it offers a summer day with a different flavour from a sand-only beach.

Tips

Swimming ends at 16:00, so allow time to change and wrap up 15 minutes beforehand. The rocks are slippery, so water shoes are reassuring. Have the 1,000 yen parking contribution ready to pay on site.

Best time to visit

From 14:00 the sun eases a little and there is plenty of time to enjoy through to the 16:00 close
