About this spot

This station on the Sanriku Railway Rias Line (三陸鉄道リアス線) is the gateway to Yamada Town (山田町), located in the heart of the town. Having reopened after recovering from the earthquake disaster, this line is beloved as a local lifeline connecting seaside towns. From the platform and in front of the station, you can feel the seaside air typical of Yamada Town, and for children, simply riding the train can be one of the joys of the trip. Head to Michi-no-Eki Yamada (道の駅やまだ), just a short walk from here, to start off your day's itinerary.

Tips

There's a wide roundabout in front of the station, making it a convenient spot to meet up by car. Michi-no-Eki Yamada is a few minutes' walk away. Summer sunlight is strong, so it's a good idea to move to shade or an indoor facility soon after leaving the station.
