A station on the Sanriku Railway Rias Line and the gateway to Yamada Town's central area. This line, which reopened following recovery from the disaster, is cherished as the region's lifeblood connecting coastal communities. From the platforms and station forecourt, you can sense the seaside atmosphere characteristic of Yamada Town, and for children, riding the train itself becomes part of the journey's enjoyment. From here, walk a short distance to Michi no Eki Yamada (道の駅やまだ) and begin your day's itinerary.

山田町にある浦の浜海水浴場は、2026年は7月18日(土)から8月16日(日)まで、毎日9時から16時まで開設されます。約120台分の駐車場に加え、トイレ・更衣室・温水シャワーも整っており、小さな子ども連れでも身支度がしやすい海水浴場です。三陸の海らしい穏やかな波と豊かな緑に囲まれたロケーションで、波打ち際での水遊びから砂遊びまで、家族でゆったりと夏を満喫できます。営業終了の16時まで、思いきり海の時間を楽しみましょう。
Tips
道の駅やまだから車で移動が便利です。営業は16時までなので、着替えや片付けの時間を考えて15分ほど前には切り上げるのがおすすめ。更衣室と温水シャワーがあるので、帰りの車内も快適です。日差しが強い時間帯は、パラソルなど日よけの準備があるとより安心です。
Tips
The station forecourt has a spacious rotary, making it convenient for car meetups. Michi no Eki Yamada is just a few minutes' walk away. In summer, the sun is strong, so we recommend moving to shaded or indoor facilities soon after leaving the station.
Best time to visit
Approximately 30 minutes required. The 10 AM time slot features fewer train arrivals and departures, allowing for a relaxed experience.
