Urano-hama Beach (浦の浜海水浴場) in Yamada Town (山田町) is open daily from 9am to 4pm in 2026, from Saturday, July 18 to Sunday, August 16. In addition to parking for about 120 cars, it's equipped with restrooms, changing rooms, and warm-water showers, making it a beach where even families with small children can easily get ready. Set amid calm waves typical of the Sanriku sea and surrounded by lush greenery, families can leisurely enjoy summer, from playing in the shallows to building sandcastles. Enjoy your time at the sea to the fullest until closing at 4pm.

Tips

It's convenient to drive here from Michi-no-Eki Yamada. Since it's open until 4pm, it's recommended to wrap up about 15 minutes early, factoring in time to change and pack up. With changing rooms and warm-water showers available, the ride home is comfortable too. During times when the sunlight is strong, bringing a parasol or other sun protection will give you extra peace of mind.

Best time to visit

From noon to 3pm, both air and water temperatures are high, making it a great stretch of time for plenty of swimming.
