About this spot
On the coastline of Yono Town, traditional structures called "uni propagation channels" (ウニ増殖溝)—channels carved into rocky areas to cultivate sea urchins—still remain. Using tidal flows to grow the seaweed that serves as food for uni, these channels embody the wisdom of our predecessors in cultivating high-quality sea urchins and are known nationally as a rare fishing method. The scenery created by rocky shores and azure sea is also photogenic and becomes a learning moment to understand Yono Town's ocean bounty before your beach swim.

岩手県洋野町にある種市海浜公園海水浴場は、2026年は7月20日(月・祝)から8月16日(日)まで開設されます。7月21日(火)から24日(金)は人員配置の都合により遊泳禁止となるため、訪れる日程には注意が必要です。遊泳は無料で、砂浜には管理棟が備わりトイレと温水シャワー、ロッカーが利用できるので、着替えや貴重品の管理も安心です。北三陸らしい澄んだ海と静かな砂浜は、混雑を気にせずのびのびと海水浴を楽しみたい家族連れにぴったりの環境です。波打ち際の水遊びから砂のお城づくりまで、夕方まで思いきり岩手の夏を満喫しましょう。
Tips
シャワーは大人200円・子供100円、ロッカーは1回100円が必要です。小銭を用意しておくとスムーズです。砂浜は日差しが強いのでビーチサンダルと日よけを忘れずに。海水浴の目安時間は17時までとし、着替えや片付けの時間を見込んで15分前には切り上げるのがおすすめです。
Tips
Since the footing is rocky, shoes that don't slip are recommended over sandals. At high tide, the channels may be hidden below sea level, so viewing is easier during times close to low tide. Refrain from touching intertidal creatures and observe quietly.
Best time to visit
Approximately 50 minutes required. Calm mornings with gentle waves are the most relaxing time for viewing.
