Located on the Shimane Peninsula (島根半島) in Matsue City, Sabu Beach (小波海水浴場) is open in 2026 from Sunday, July 5 through Monday, August 31. It's a beach loved by local families, where swimming is free. The inlet, protected by the peninsula's characteristically intricate coastline, has calm waves, making it safe for small children to play in the water. With a rest area, showers, and restrooms set up near the sandy beach, changing and staying hydrated go smoothly. There's also a campground next door, so beyond a day trip to the beach, you can stay overnight and take your time enjoying the nature of the Shimane Peninsula. From splashing at the water's edge to collecting shells, make the most of summer until evening.

Tips

There are 100 parking spaces, at a fee of 1,000 yen per car. The summer sun on the beach is strong, so a shade tent or parasol will make things more comfortable. Showers and restrooms are available at the rest area, so come prepared for changing. Since some areas have scattered rocks, water shoes will help keep your feet safe.

Best time to visit

In the afternoon, past 1pm, the sunlight becomes steadier, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the water until evening.
