Next stop: Swim until evening at a Shimane Peninsula beach — free to swimAbout this spot
A hall located in Katakui (片句), Kashima-cho, Matsue City. The port of Katakui at the center of the settlement is a branch port of Etomo Fishing Port (恵曇漁港), about 2 kilometers northeast of the main port, with fishing boats lined up in a small inlet flanked by Takashiro-hana (高城鼻) headland to the west and Miyazaki-hana (宮崎鼻) headland to the east. The scent of the sea drifts through this quiet fishing village setting, typical of the Sea of Japan side of the Shimane Peninsula. Taking a break here to fill up before swimming will give you plenty of energy for the afternoon's water play.
Tips
Parking space is limited, so during busy times it's a good idea to park a bit farther away and walk. Restaurant hours can vary by day, so checking ahead before stopping by in the morning helps things go smoothly. Since you'll be swimming afterward, be careful not to eat too much.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 15 minutes. Lunchtime gets crowded, so arriving early, around 11am, is recommended.
