A unique landform created over many years as gravel layers were eroded by rainwater, carving out countless pillar-like shapes. Designated as a national natural monument, this geologically rare site offers visitors a chance to experience one of Shikoku's distinctive natural wonders. From the observation platform, you can see columnar cliffs lined up in an impressive array. During morning hours when light hits at an angle, shadows create striking contrast and dramatic effect. Much of the walkway is paved, making it relatively easy to navigate with a stroller—a welcome advantage for families. Summer visits are most comfortable in the morning before the sun becomes intense.

Venue: 阿波市・吉野ウォーターパーク

阿波市にある屋外レジャープールで、2026年は7月18日(土)から8月30日(日)まで営業します。営業時間は9:00〜12:00と13:00〜16:00の入替制で、このコースでは午前の部を利用します。25mプールとサブプール、水深の浅い幼児用プールに加え、50mと30mの2本のウォータースライダーがそろい、小さな子から小学生まで思いきり体を動かして遊べます。料金は一般(15歳以上)520円、小中学生260円、就学前児童100円、付添200円で、阿波市外在住者は5割増となります。7月21日・27日、8月3日、8月10日〜17日、8月24日は休業日にあたるため、訪問前に日程の確認が欠かせません。朝の2つのスポットで体を動かした後、正午まで水遊びに集中する組み立てです。

Tips

午前の部は12:00で終了し、入替制のため居残りはできません。時間ぎりぎりまで遊びたい場合は10時前後の入場がおすすめです。休業日が変則的なので、訪問日が休みに当たっていないか事前に確認しておきましょう。料金は現金対応が基本のため、小銭を用意しておくとスムーズです。

Tips

Wear comfortable walking shoes, as the path to the observation platform includes gentle slopes. Some sections have little shade, so bring a hat and plenty of water. Photography tip: from the observation platform, framing shots through the railing captures the entire pillar formations well.
