Swim until evening on the sands of Minatomachi Seaside Park

About this spot

A swimming beach spreading inside Minatomachi Seaside Park (みなとまち海浜公園), close to central Kashiwazaki (柏崎). In 2026 it is open from Sunday 5 July to Sunday 16 August, 9:00 to 16:00, on days when lifeguards are on duty. There are two changing areas, and showers and toilets are provided within the park, so the facilities for changing and rinsing off are reassuringly in place. Swimming is free and parking is free too, which has made it a beach families drop into easily. There is no shop on site, so bringing drinks and light food in advance is recommended. Splash at the water's edge and play in the sand, and spend an unhurried afternoon by the water.

Tips

It opens only on days when lifeguards are on duty, so checking the opening days before you visit is reassuring. With no shop, bring drinks, light food and sun protection in advance. There are only two changing areas, so allow for changing to take a little longer at busy times. Closing is at 16:00, so allow time to pack up and change and wrap up 15 minutes beforehand.

Best time to visit

From the 13:00 hour, the temperature has fully risen and you can enjoy plenty of swimming until 16:00
